New helicopters are on the way to the Japanese Ground Self-Defence Force (JGSDF). According to the Japanese Defence Ministry, signed a $131.6 million purchase agreement with Subaru. The procurement process, which includes six UH-X multipurpose helicopters, is scheduled to begin in 2022 and be completed in 2023.
Based on the 412EPX commercial helicopter developed by Subaru and Bell companies, UH-X will replace the UH-1J Huey platform in the JGSDF inventory.
Uh-X's first prototype took off in 2018.
