Nail Kurt, FNSS General Manager and CEO, met with the leading names of the defence media in a live stream. Kurt answered questions about ÖMTTZA (Özel Maksatlı Taktik Tekerlekli Araçlar / Special Purpose Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles) and indigenous engine / power pack integration.
Stating the share of engines in production costs between 5% and 15%, Nail Kurt added that it should not only be considered in terms of engines. While it is stated that the domestic contribution rate on the platforms is a more important issue, FNSS production announced that the domestic contribution rate of vehicles is around 55% to 65%. Adding that in some cases the processes have been reduced to the engine or heavy weapon, Kurt said that the restrictions in export licenses recently caused problems from time to time. It was emphasized that the production of the engine from scratch is not a cost-effective solution for vehicles produced in a small number, while the need to handle the process on an automotive basis was emphasized. Stating that FNSS vehicles do not have an indigenous engine option in previous processes, Nail Kurt emphasized that TÜMOSAN is carrying out studies in the current process.
Nail Kurt stated that FNSS is the only company in the market that offers domestic engine options today. As a result of the work carried out, although it was in question in the first place a 350 HP class engine, he added that in the future the software and hardware additions and 450 to 550 HP class drive system will be in the future. Kurt also announced that the test phase will begin at the end of the year for the 450 HP solution.
