Firefly Aerospace's Alpha rocket launch date, developed in the United States and Ukraine, has been postponed. The company, which planned to make its rocket's first flight in the first quarter of 2020, went on to postpone the COVID-19 due to the delay.
Firefly officials also said that processes such as certification of the launch plant during the rocket development process, obtaining the necessary flight permits, are taking longer than expected. The launch date, which is postponed until the fall of 2020, is scheduled for late October or early November. The company, which conducts alpha's production and engine tests in the United States, continues its R&D studies in Ukraine.Â
Alpha, which has a useful load capacity of about 1,000 kilograms, is scheduled to launch twice a month from 2021.
