It is always interesting taking part in the first edition of a defence exhibition, as it allows to get the feelings of the local market and industry. This was also the case with EDEX, Egypt Defence Expo, which took place at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre at the outskirts of Cairo on December 3-5, 2018.
Inaugurated on Monday by the Egyptian President, Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi, the event gathered some 350 exhibitors; behind Egypt, with over 50 exhibitors, came the United States followed by France, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. However, in terms of space occupied, China was definitely among the top players at EDEX, while Russian participation was praised by the Egyptian Minister of Military Production, Mohamed Al-Assar.
