Estonia and the Netherlands have signed a joint procurement agreement for seven Milrem Robotics THeMIS Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs). Estonian Centre for Defence Investment (ECDI) will procure seven Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry System (THeMIS) Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs), four of which will be delivered to the Netherlands and three to Estonia.
Milrem will act as the systems integrator under the contract supplying the vehicles, as well as working on the integration of third-party systems, including remote weapon stations (RWS), onto the vehicles.
The Royal Netherlands Army has already accepted delivery of two THeMIS UGVs to its 13th Light Brigade’s Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) unit.
With its multi-mission capability, a wide range of support for dismounted troops can be made available quickly. With a weight of 1,630 kg, THeMIS can carry a payload of up to 1,200 kg and is designed for high off-road mobility. The batteries (optionally lead or Li-Ion), which are fed from the diesel engine via a generator, allow operation for up to 15 hours, with a maximum speed is 20 km/h and a radio remote control extending over 1.5 km.
