The UK’s New Communications Satellite

An agreement has been signed between Airbus and the United Kingdom for the Skynet 6A satellite.

Seeking to increase its communications and satellite capabilities, the United Kingdom will have Skynet 6A satellites with a deal worth approximately USD 630 million.

“To safeguard our military on operations around the world we need to ensure that we protect their communications on land, sea or in air,” Defence Minister Ben Wallace said.

Airbus will be the main contractor in the process that covers the production and launch of the satellite.  The satellite is scheduled to be launched into space in 2025.
