The TS 1400 turboshaft engine designed for the T625 General Purpose Helicopter, worked for the first time. The engine is TUSAS Engine Inc. (TEI), and it will work on T625 indigenous helicopter designed by Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. (TUSAS / TAI).
The prototype of the core motor, which forms the heart of the engine with the ignition, was also ignited for the first time. The engine, which will be powered by 1370 hp of power, is planned to be in serial production in 2024 after eight years of development.
TEI will create a new turboshaft motor family from the TS1400. This engine will be used in T625 as well as ATAK, ATAK-2, helicopters.
The Undersecretariat for Defence Industry (SSM) announced on the official twitter account; “In our original Helicopter T625 domestic engine development project, the prototype of the core motor which constitutes the main core of the motor was completed and the initial ignition was successfully performed.”
