Cost Effective Solution: Shadow Rider

Nail Kurt, FNSS General Manager and CEO, met with the leading names of the defence media in a live stream. Kurt made statements about the Shadow Rider and unmanned ground vehicles.

It was stated that the Shadow Rider Project is a project that aims to demonstrate that simple but appropriate, large vehicles can become unmanned with a simple conversion. Kurt stated that the Turkish Armed Forces has been working on different concepts and integration in the field of UGV and UAV use recently and emphasized that the system should be different from a simple remote control vehicle. Kurt also explained that integration works were carried out for components such as imaging equipment and warning system that would increase situational awareness and would not risk personnel, and added that Presidency of Defence Industries' initiatives was also closely monitored. Underlining that the processes such as setting up a communication system to provide direct and indirect control, and constructing a structure that will not harm friendly elements, Nail Kurt stated that platforms will provide great advantages in logistics. It was also mentioned that while the gun turret integration and the use in mined areas, FNSS conducted serious studies on a concept that could transfer STM and UAVs from one point to another, transfer the data to the centre, and bring the volatile system back to the base at the end of the mission.

Stating that FNSS is currently acquired 30 M113 APC, Nail Kurt stated that the platforms can be transformed into Shadow Rider quickly and at a cost-effective cost if Presidency of Defence Industries approves.
