The U.S. Army has signed an additional contract worth over $390 million with BAE Systems as part of the modernization of Bradley Fighting Vehicles. This investment will deliver advanced Bradley A4s to the Armored Brigade Combat Teams (ABCT).
Next-Generation Bradley A4: Enhanced Lethality and Survivability
The U.S. Army and BAE Systems have finalized a contract modification valued at more than $390 million to modernize additional Bradley Fighting Vehicles for soldiers. The order of upgraded, future-ready Bradley A4s will be delivered to the Army as a modern replacement for earlier variants, significantly enhancing the vehicles’ lethality, survivability, and safety.
Bill Sheehy, director of BAE Systems’ Ground Vehicles product line, said, “Lethality, performance, and next-generation capability are what the Bradley A4 brings to the field.” Sheehy emphasized the critical importance of continuing to upgrade Bradleys to the modern A4 configuration so that warfighters can maintain superiority with the equipment they need. This contract also ensures that U.S. production lines remain active and ready for continued manufacturing.
The Bradley A4 is a critical, next-generation capability within the Army’s Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) structure. Built with a design partnership aimed at proven durability and reducing the logistical burden on the engine pool, the platform provides optimized situational awareness, network connectivity, and digitized electronics for communication within the ABCT—enhancing the ability to defeat any adversary regardless of terrain, temperature, or threat.
A Critical Contribution to the U.S. Defense Industrial Base: Production Timeline
Bradley A4 production and support work are being carried out through a successful partnership with the Red River Army Depot (RRAD). This effort spans BAE Systems’ strong U.S. defense industrial network, including Aiken (South Carolina), Anniston (Alabama), Minneapolis (Minnesota), San Jose (California), Sterling Heights (Michigan), and York (Pennsylvania).
Work related to this contract is already underway, with initial vehicle deliveries expected to be completed by October 2026.
