Russia handed over the sixth and final Varshavyanka-class (NATO reporting name: Kilo) diesel-electric submarine to Vietnam. The delivery of Ba Ria-Vung Tau was announced on 23 January. Vietnam signed the $2 billion contract in late 2009, covering six Varshavyanka-class (Project 636.1) subs all of which were armed with Club-S missile system with a range of 300 kilometers.
