The BMP-3s which are producing for for Iraq were seen at Kurganmashzavod, located at the JSC Military Industrial Complex in Kurgan, Russia. Sand-colored camouflage-painted vehicles were seen during a Russian delegation's visit to Kurganmashzavod. In the statement made to the authorities, it is stated that the vehicles are producing for Iraq. It is also among the issues in the defense cabinets that Iraq will take delivery of BMP-3, which has approximately 300 with additional armor kits, between 2018 and 2022.
BMP-3s ordered by Iraq can be considered as an improved version of BMP-3. It offers higher power, protection and combat efficiency than its predecessor. In the vehicle, the 2A70 100mm gun, which can fire the 9M117 (NATO Code: AT-10 Stabber) anti-tank missile, as well as the 2A72 30 mm dual feed gun and the 7,62 mm PKT machine gun. Although the ammunition load varies according to the user preference, 40 piece of 100 mm cannons, eight missiles, 500 piece of 30 mm cannons and 2 thousand machine gun ammunition can be carried in the vehicles as standard. The vehicle, which has higher firepower than many tanks which produced in 1960s and currently in service BMP-3 is powered by a 500 HP engine. It's armour can resist against 25 millimeter armour piercing ammunition. 18.7-ton vehicle has a maximum range of 600 kilometers.
