BAE Systems recently introduced Silver Link, a new modular antenna portfolio developed to support reliable communications in air superiority programs and airborne platforms. With Silver Link, BAE Systems aims to deliver innovative solutions to the industry.
The Silver Link product line is built on the company’s more than 30 years of experience in conformal antenna design and manufacturing. This product line has been structured to enable a rapid transition from the prototype stage to full fleet integration. Additionally, these solutions—designed to meet customer cost requirements—focus on addressing the needs of next-generation defense programs.
Full Compatibility with Aerodynamic Structures
Silver Link antennas have been developed to fully conform to the surface curvature of the host platform. This ensures that the aerodynamic and structural integrity of the main platform is not compromised. This structural feature also enables the platform to maintain high-capability communications. As a result, there are no performance losses.
“Costs Will Decrease, Integration Will Accelerate”
Lindsay McEwen, Vice President and General Manager of Tactical Solutions at BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems, stated the following about the new product line:
“With Silver Link™, we are leveraging our heritage of delivering rapid and scalable solutions to our customers. We are making significant internal investments to move faster, reduce costs, and eliminate integration risk. These antennas are designed to adapt to evolving requirements and to be ready for production faster than ever before.”
Mass Production and Global Supply
The new product family aims to minimize long and costly custom design processes while offering low maintenance requirements and high performance. BAE Systems also stated that, through its recently expanded facilities, it will be able to supply Silver Link™ solutions in large quantities globally. This will be done by utilizing its in-house rapid prototyping and mass production capabilities.
