Within the scope of a strategic protocol signed with the Infantry School Command, Gebze Technical University (GTU) is strengthening the technological capacity of military personnel with academic expertise.
With the increasing use of domestic technologies in the defense industry, Gebze Technical University (GTU) has stepped in to train the human resources who will use and develop these technologies. The protocol signing ceremony between GTU and the Infantry School Command was held with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar and Infantry School Commander Major General Alparslan Kılınç.
“We Are Bringing Academic Expertise to the Barracks”
Speaking at the ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar stated that the university is placing its technical capacity at the service of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). Explaining the vision of the cooperation, Mantar said: “In line with our state’s vision, we know that we have no shortcomings in technological infrastructure; on the contrary, we have an excess of expertise that will make a difference in the field. With this protocol, we are making our military personnel active stakeholders of our R&D ecosystem.”

Technical Scope of the Training
The protocol, which entered into force as of December 2025, will be implemented face to face at the Infantry School campus in Tuzla. The program, to be carried out under the coordination of the GTU Continuing Education Center (GTU-SEM), aims to provide direct technical competence beyond raw knowledge and consists of the following components:
- Artificial Intelligence Awareness: “Artificial Intelligence Awareness Training and Certificate Programs” designed to support personnel’s adaptation to digital transformation.
- Advanced Technical Skills: Training in “3D Modeling,” “Data Analysis,” and “Image Processing” technologies that form the foundation of defense technologies.
- Academic Specialization: Providing Infantry School personnel with opportunities for postgraduate education within GTU, thereby opening an academic career path.
- Joint R&D Studies: Transforming training processes into joint R&D projects between academics and military personnel.
At the end of the trainings, personnel who successfully complete the program will be provided with official certification by GTU.
