Exporting to over 80 countries, SYS Group shared its technological capabilities in the defense industry and its vision for global success at the 2nd Foreign Trade Summit.
SYS Group Became the Main Sponsor of the Foreign Trade Summit
The 2nd Foreign Trade Summit, organized by the Association of Leaders in Foreign Trade (DIŞYÖNDER), was held on November 7 at the Akıngüç Auditorium of Istanbul Kültür University, with Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS Group)—also affiliated with the CANiK brand—as the main sponsor.
SYS Group Board Member Nafia Didem Aral, speaking at the summit themed “Turkey Generating Sustainable Foreign Trade Surplus”, emphasized that a foreign trade surplus is not merely when exports exceed imports, but also a reflection of a country’s technological, intellectual, and production capacity.
“Turkey Is Growing with a Knowledge- and Technology-Intensive Production Model”
Aral stated that Turkey has taken significant steps in industrialization in recent years and has transitioned to a production model focused on knowledge and technology.
Highlighting that the localization rate in the defense industry has reached 80%, Aral said that the annual export volume exceeding $10 billion, based on high technology, is a tangible reflection of Turkey’s R&D and engineering capabilities.
“Our defense industry is no longer just an export item; it has also become a main source of added value. Each product reflects Turkey’s intellectual capital, engineering capacity, and vision of independence to the world,” she said.
“Made in Turkey” Has Become a Symbol of Global Trust
Aral emphasized that SYS Group’s journey, which began at its production center in Samsun, has now gained a global dimension with facilities in the United States and the United Kingdom. She highlighted that the CANiK brand represents quality, trust, and engineering in over 80 countries under the “Made in Turkey” label.
Stressing that SYS Group is not only an exporting company but also actively participates in the global defense industry supply chain, Aral said:
“Our facilities in the U.S. and the U.K. bring technologies developed by Turkish engineers to the global market, generating capital returns for Turkey. This model is the clearest example of ‘value transfer from local to global and from global back to local’ in the defense industry.”

“Defense Industry: The Strategic Power of Sustainable Growth”
Didem Aral emphasized that the defense industry is no longer just a ‘protector’ for Turkey, but a sector contributing to sustainable economic growth.
She stated that Turkey is progressing not only as a producer but as a country that sets new standards and influences the world with what it produces, concluding her speech as follows:
“At SYS Group, we aim to be not just a part of this transformation but one of its pioneers. On every production line and in every export contract, we carry this belief: By working together and producing together, we will collectively build a Turkey that generates sustainable foreign trade surplus.”
