Within the scope of the HGK-84 Precision Guidance Kit Procurement Project carried out under the main contractor ASFAT, new deliveries have been made to the inventory of the Turkish Air Force Command. In addition, a number of guidance kits produced with national capabilities were shipped to Air Force units after the completion of acceptance procedures.
Features of the HGK-84 Guidance Kit and Delivery Process
Developed in cooperation with TÜBİTAK SAGE, the HGK-84 converts the MK-84 general-purpose bombs in the inventory into smart munitions. These kits are equipped with a Global Positioning System (GPS) and an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). As a result, the munition can reach its target with high precision in all weather conditions. With the delivery of new batches, the Air Force’s strike capability and operational effectiveness continue to be strengthened through indigenous solutions.
The project, carried out through the strategic partnership between ASFAT and TÜBİTAK SAGE, reduces external dependency while demonstrating the competence of the Turkish defense industry in munition technologies. Moreover, in line with the project schedule, HGK-84 procurement activities are expected to continue in the coming period with the planned quantities.
