ASFAT has completed Türkiye’s first sale of a combat ship (warship) to a NATO and EU member country!
ASFAT, a company under the Ministry of National Defence, has made history for Türkiye by selling a combat ship (warship) to Romania, a NATO and European Union member country! This achievement underscores the growing capability and international recognition of the Turkish Defence Industry.
Light Corvette Sales Agreement Signed Between ASFAT and Romania
ASFAT, one of the leading organisations in the Turkish defence industry, successfully exported the Akhisar Light Corvette, which was completed last year at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command, to the Romanian Navy.
This agreement marks an important milestone in Türkiye‘s defence exports while also taking military cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
With this export,Türkiye has sold a Combat Ship (Warship) to a NATO and European Union member country for the first time. This is seen as a concrete demonstration of the reliability, quality, and technological competence achieved by not only ASFAT but also the Türkiye defence industry internationally.
Contributing to Regional Maritime Security
The addition of the Akhisar Corvette to Romania’s inventory as a Light Corvette will significantly contribute to regional maritime security and provide strong support for the Romanian Navy’s modernisation goals.
Defence industry experts emphasised that this strategic export is an important step in terms of both Türkiye‘s defence industry export vision and the development of cooperation with allied countries.
