President of Defence Industries Prof. İsmail Demir announced a new development on his personal twitter account. With STM's “Portable Ammunition System”, the firing time of the submachine gun was increased, and the automatic firing process limited to magazine capacity was brought to a new dimension. It was ensured that the user fired uninterruptedly with as many bullets as he carried in his backpack instead of 20 or 30-round magazine. Demir announced this development with the words “Our defence industry continues to offer products that will make a difference to Mehmetçik in the field. Portable Ammunition Systems DM-5 and DM-7 are used by our security forces. The system developed for 5.56 and 7.62 mm machine guns provides uninterrupted firing.” . In the video published by SSB, it was demonstrated that a 5.56mm FN Minimi long barrelled 5.56 machine gun was fired for 39 seconds in automatic firing. MINIMI is produced at the factory “Fabrique Nationale” in Belgium. According to its version, Minimi can fire between 700 and 1100 rounds per minute. It is known that the TAF has Minimi in its inventory.
