Temel Kotil, General Manager of Turkish Aerospace Industries (Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayii/ TUSAŞ), was a guest of CNN Turk’s live broadcast.
“My agenda is TF-X. It definitely has to be done,” TUSAŞ General Manager Kotil said, adding that $1.3 billion has been allocated for the Phase-1 work of the project. 6,000 engineers work in the field of TF-X. “We are building a hangar for TF-X, it will be finished by the end of this year. We’re building a wind tunnel for the plane right now. We make the second-best tunnel in Europe in Turkey. Not in France, not in England. It will be in Turkey.”
HÜRKUŞ-C Aircraft to Be Exported
Temel Kotil also explained the C variant of the next generation training aircraft HÜRKUŞ and said that the platform is in mass production. Temel Kotil said, “There is a demand for HÜRKUŞ from abroad, but we cannot share it without signing it. Let the contract be signed, and then I’ll share the developments. If the agreement is signed, it looks like we will send about 12 planes abroad,” he said.
GÖKSUNGUR Can Be Launched From AKSUNGUR
The AKSUNGUR armed drone conducted its first firing test with the KGK-WMD-82 bomb, which weighed 340 kg.
Stating that GÖKSUNGUR will be supersonic, the next stage of AKSUNGUR, TUSAŞ General Manager Kotil said GÖKSUNGUR will have a supersonic cruising speed system that can be launched from AKSUNGUR.
ATAK Receives Export Approval
TUSAŞ General Manager Kotil said the ATAK helicopter has received US approval for exports to the Philippines. In the coming months, the production of T129s for the Philippines will begin. Kotil added that a contract has been signed with Ukraine for ATAK-II’s engines.
