The Meko-A200EN frigate, built for the Egyptian Navy, will be unveiled to the public and authorities this week.
In November 2018, a $2.7 billion agreement was signed for ships to be built with the help of Germany. Under the contract, the construction of three frigates for Egypt was completed in Germany in cooperation with the German shipyard ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS). The first platform will be unveiled later this week, with the launch of the second frigate in August and the third at the end of the year.
Construction of the fourth ship will begin in Egypt this year. The construction of the frigate, which will be carried out with the help of Germany, will be the first ship that Egypt will produce domestically.
The Meko-A200EN’s, 118 meters long and 14.8 meters wide, have a speed of 32 nautical miles and a displacement of 3,400 tons.
