Britain and Qatar expanded military cooperation with the agreement signed on April 1st. As part of the deal, Royal Airforce (RAF) and Qatari Emir Air Force (QEAF) will establish a joint Hawk training fleet in Yorkshire.
In addition to the training fleet, RAF Voyager will be deployed regularly to provide air-to-air refuelling to Qatar. The joint fleet is scheduled to be operational in September this year. The fleet will host Advanced Jet Training of QEAF and RAF pilots. Nine Hawk T2 Mk167 aircraft recently purchased by Qatar will also be deployed in the fleet.
Starting in July 2021, RAF Voyager aircraft will be periodically transferred to Qatar for air-to-air refuelling training.
