Engine of Russia’s New Bomber in Assembly Phase

The installation of the first prototype engine to power the Tupolev PAK DA, a new long-range bomber with a low radar cross section developed by Russia, has begun.

According to UEC-Kuznetsov officials, the ignition of the prototype engine will be carried out by the end of this year, while testing will begin next year.

Some engine components for the bomber were also tested and the facilities were preparing for the production process.

Pak DA’s first prototype assembly began in May 2020. The development of the design documentation was completed and the dates were set for April 2023 for preliminary tests of the aircraft and February 2026 for state tests. Production of the platform is planned to begin in 2027.

The new long-range bomber could remain in the air for up to 30 hours.
