Within the scope of NATO Standing Maritime Group 2 (SNMG-2) activities, the German Navy vessel FGS Elbe was in Çanakkale from 3–6 December 2025 for a planned port visit.
As part of the visit protocol, the Commander of the German Navy unit FGS Elbe paid an official visit to Rear Admiral Mustafa Biçen, Commander of the Çanakkale Strait and Garrison. This visit demonstrated the cooperation among NATO allies and the importance placed on shared security at sea.
SNMG-2 is a multinational, integrated maritime force with a high level of readiness under NATO command. Port visits play a critical role in strengthening logistical support and coordination capabilities among allies.
