Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) shared developments regarding the military transport aircraft it aims to produce with the country’s resources.
It was stated that a multi-purpose platform could be developed to meet the country’s domestic demand, and in the long term these aircraft would also be offered to the international market.
Negotiations with the Defence Acquisition Program Administration are ongoing. A total of 30 multi-purpose aircraft and 70 transport aircraft are currently deployed in the Korean Armed Forces.
According to open sources, Korea mainly uses C-130s and CN-235s for air resupply.
Korea announced a year ago that KAI could build its transport aircraft in seven years, with an investment of about $2.7 billion.
