Elbit Systems has signed contracts worth USD 150 million with BAE Systems Hägglunds for the integration of the Iron Fist Active Protection System (APS) into CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) used by European NATO forces. This development expands the existing strategic partnership with BAE Systems Hägglunds while increasing the operational presence of the Iron Fist system across Europe.
The contracts followed successful live-fire tests conducted in September 2025. During these tests, Iron Fist demonstrated its proven capability against advanced anti-armor threats by intercepting more than a dozen 120 mm kinetic energy tank rounds, which are considered among the most difficult threats to defeat.
360-Degree Operational Assurance
The Iron Fist Active Protection System provides platforms with a full-spectrum 360-degree protective shield in both open-terrain conditions and complex urban operations. The system creates a highly effective defensive layer against a wide range of threats, including anti-tank rockets (ATR), anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and loitering munitions. As demonstrated in the September 2025 tests, its ability to physically destroy even 120 mm kinetic energy (KE) tank munitions—among the most challenging threats to intercept—stands out as its most significant technical advantage over competing systems. Thanks to its low weight and modular design, Iron Fist can be integrated into armored vehicles such as the CV90 without restricting mobility. Moreover, its advanced sensor algorithms minimize the risk of collateral damage to nearby friendly forces and infantry units, ensuring a safe operational environment on the battlefield.
