Georgia will begin production of M4 infantry rifles and drones next year. Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze announced that they are currently in talks with companies based in South Africa, Poland and Israel.
The agreement for drone production is expected to be signed later this year. While no information was given about the model and manufacturer of the unmanned aerial vehicle, it was noted that production of the M4 rifle will start at the end of this year or early next year.
Defence Minister Burchuladze also said machine gun and grenade equipment was purchased for the Georgian Armed Forces in February with U.S. support.
Georgia, which runs the Defence 2030 programme, is also negotiating with NATO member states on military technologies.
