A new image of china’s second Type 075 Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) has been shared online. The platform is estimated to have begun sea tests in January 2021.
The work of the Type 075s, designed and built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding for the Chinese navy, was launched in 2011. According to Chinese military sources, the Type 075s will deploy about 900 troops and will be able to support ground operations.
China’s LHDs are being compared by experts to the WASP class of the United States. AV-8B Harrier II or F-35B Lightning II aircraft can be deployed for air support on WASP class ships.
