Israel and Greece have signed the biggest defence deal to date, the Israeli Defence Ministry said yesterday. Under the deal, which is said to be worth about $1.65 billion, Israel’s Defence Ministry will establish an international flight training centre for the Greek Air Force through Elbit Systems.
The centre will also be supplied with 10 new M-346 training aircraft produced by the Italian company Leonardo.

As part of the collaboration, which is expected to last nearly 20 years, Israel will modernize the Greek Air Force’s existing T-6 Texan training aircraft. In addition to the new avionics, Elbit Systems is expected to supply the flight simulator, ground-based training station command and control systems to Greece.
