The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will work with Japan-based space firm ispace to design the rover, which will be sent to the moon in 2022.
The UAE is expected to travel by rover to previously unreachable areas to gather information about lunar dust, soil and other objects found in space.
In February, the UAE began sending data on the atmosphere and climate of the red planet with its Mars mission. Thus, the UAE became the fifth space agency to reach Mars. The Emirates Mars Mission, which costs about $200 million, aims to provide a complete picture of the Martian atmosphere for the first time by studying daily and seasonal changes.
