Bulgaria has released the Request for Proposal (RfP) for its new jet fighter again. Bulgaria's Deputy Defence Minister Anatoliy Metodiev Velichkov announced that proposals from potential suppliers will coma on 1 October. Bulgaria plans to replace the its aging MiG-29s in its inventory with aircraft to be procured as a result of this tender.
The MiG-29 aircraft, which made its first flight in 1977, serves on the inventories of many countries. MiG-29s, which have considerably superior characteristics compared to the its era, can perform fighter and bomber missions within a 700 km radius. Powered by two Klimov RD33 engines, the aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 22,30 kilograms.
