For the last few years, Australia has been looking for an alternative to Eurocopter Tiger helicopters, which have low combat readiness and high maintenance costs. The answer to this quest seems to be the Boeing production AH-64 Apache attack helicopter.
The Australian government recently submitted a request to purchase 29 Apache helicopters. If the US government responds positively to this request, an agreement worth approximately US$ 3.5 billion will be signed between the parties.
