June 20, 2020Turkey’s First Medium-Range Domestic Cruise Missile Engine Tested

The prototype test of the TJ300, the Medium-Range Domestic Missile Engine developed by TUSAŞ Engine Industries (TEI) for ROKETSAN, was successfully carried out. The engine will power the medium-range anti-ship missile. It will produce 1,300 Newtonian torque thrusts. TEI President and General Manager Professor Dr Mahmut Akşit said that TJ300 has a narrower scale compared to similar engines that produce similar thrust. The indigenous missile engine project was launched two years ago.
The TEI-TJ300 prototype test was held at TEI's facility in Eskisehir. Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank attended the ceremony. Minister Varank stated that the engine would not only be used in that missile but on many other missiles as well.
Gür Metal company supported the production of the engine in the casting, while the Sabancı University R&D Centre contributed to the layered manufacturing parts.
The TEI-TJ300's second engine has been produced as part of the project. It is aimed to produce five engines at the end of this year.
It is the second turbojet engine to be used on the missile project. The first engine is called KTJ-3200. The KTJ -3200 engine produced by Kale Arge, is built to deliver more massive missiles to a more distant distance.
