UAV Made from Pineapple Leaves

A Malaysian team has produced a UAV of pineapple waste and stems. Turning the fibres found in the leaves of the fruit into powerful materials, the team said pineapple leaves are much stronger than synthetic-used UAVs.

The UAV, where recycling is used, is lighter and easier to take off than its counterparts. Speaking to Reuters, the team explained that the prototype they are currently developing can reach a height of up to 1,000 metres and the platform remains in the air for 20 minutes.

Ultimately, a drone with increased useful load capacity is planned, including image sensors for air inspections.
