Under the main contractor of Russia-based United Engine Corporation (UEC), three prototypes of the VK-650V engine will be produced by the end of 2021.
The VK-650 is reportedly in the testing phase and is expected to power the A-226T helicopter.
The VK-650V, which is scheduled to replace the Safran Arrius 2G1 engine that powers the Ka-226T and Ansat-U helicopters, is said to have 650 horsepower.
Many helicopters of the same payload class can be integrated with the engine, Ansat-U and VRT-500. It is expected to complete the certification process in 2023.
