Sweden, Germany and England Agree with BAE Systems

Sweden, Germany and the UK signed agreements with BAE Systems to purchase 436 BvS10 off-road vehicles. The $760 million joint purchase supports the Arctic operations of the CATV (Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle) program.

According to the agreement, the delivery of the vehicles will start as of 2024. Of the 436 vehicles, 236 will be given to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), 140 to the German Federal Ministry of Defense (BAAINBw) and 60 to the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (MoD). The vehicles will include variants of the BvS10 in addition to the final version for troop transport, logistics, medical evacuation, rescue, and command and control.

Being the leading country, Sweden has established a joint procurement office with representatives from all three countries. The CATV program includes a framework agreement that could lead the three countries to purchase more vehicles and keep the BvS10 in production for many years to come.

Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, Managing Director of BAE Systems Hägglunds, said: “We are seeing increasing interest from many countries in the extreme mobility capabilities offered by the BvS10 and its unarmoured sister vehicle Beowulf. Sweden, Germany and the UK will see an excellent return on their investment in these highly capable vehicles over the coming decades. This demonstrates the strong relationship between BAE Systems and our customers to deliver these critical capabilities.”
