Czech Republic to Buy Howitzer from France

The Czech Ministry of Defence signed an agreement with France in September 2021 to purchase 52 Caesar howitzers. According to the statement made by the Czech Ministry of Defence on Friday, an agreement was signed with France to purchase 10 more howitzers.

An agreement worth 1.77 billion Koruna ($77.5 million) was signed for howitzers produced by France-based Nexter Systems. The value of the 62 howitzers ordered in total reached 10.3 billion Koruna ($451 million). Procurement is expected by the end of 2026.

The Czech Republic, a NATO member, has been using the old Czech-made DANA system for many years, whose calibre does not meet NATO standards. New howitzers are expected to replace this system.
