It is possible to analyse roughly the relationship of humanity with space under two categories. The first of these is the orbital space that covers relatively close distances to the Earth. The Soviet's Sputnik satellite launched into space in 1957 has been followed by more than 8,000 satellites so far, and satellites in the orbit of the Earth have become an indispensable element and extension of modern life. The second category extends to the outer space beyond Earth's orbit and is identified as deep space or outer space.
