‘Skylark 3’ Test by Sky Riders

Israeli Army is to begin trials of the Skylark 3, Elbit Systems' mini unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), in April this year. The tests will be carried out by the Israeli Defence Forces Artillery, commonly known as 'Sky Riders' unit. Skylark 3, has an operating range of more than 100km and a flight endurance of up to 6 hours. Powered by an electric motor, the air vehicle has a 4,8 m wingspan, and can be operated up to a service ceiling of over 4 thousand 500 meters. The UAV uses a parachute-assisted landing system in order to protect its image-capturing equipment.
