The US Army has issued a new request for information (RFI) on 3 March for a Block III engine for its RQ-7Bv2 Shadow unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The new engine is expected to lower life-cycle costs and to increase reliability. The RFI states that the engine should have a Technical Readiness Level (TRL) 8 maturity and a meantime-between-essential-function-failure of 1 thousand hours. The due date of responses to the RFI is determined as 3 April.
