The S-500, which is said to destroy hypersonic weapons along with aerodynamics and ballistic targets, will be operational in the next few years.
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said delivery of a new generation of air defence systems would begin in 2020. For nearly three years, the Kremlin has been training experts who will use the new system, at the Aviation Military Academy in Tver.
