The appointment decision to the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) has been published in the Official Gazette dated 3 February 2018. According to the new decision, Prof. Dr. Prof. Faruk Yiğit was appointed as the Deputy Undersecretary for Defence Industries. Dr. Faruk Yiğit graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1984. Yiğit graduated from Yıldız Technical University in 1987 with a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1988, he completed his doctorate at the University of Michigan, USA. Yigit worked at King Suud University in Suudi Arabia from 1995 to 2009. Professor Yiğit was appointed to the Dean of the Faculty of Machinery in 2013, and in 2014, Vice Rector in charge of management.
