NATO Handles Missile Explosion in Poland

NATO ambassadors met today to discuss the missiles that hit the village of Przewodow, near the Polish-Ukrainian border.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made statements after the meeting. Stoltenberg said: “Since the start of Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine, NATO has increased its vigilance on our eastern flank. We have to wait for the outcome of the ongoing investigation, but we have no indication that this was the result of a deliberate attack and that Russia is preparing aggressive military actions against NATO. Our initial analysis shows that the incident was most likely caused by a Ukrainian air defence missile fired to defend Ukrainian territory against Russian cruise missile attacks. But let me be clear, it’s not Ukraine’s fault. Russia, which continues its illegal war against Ukraine, bears ultimate responsibility.”

At the meeting, the allies stated that they will continue to support Ukraine on the right of self-defence and offered their condolences to Poland for the loss of life.

Stoltenberg concluded his words by saying “We agreed that we need to be vigilant, calm and closely coordinated. We will continue to observe and consult the situation very closely. NATO is united and we will always do what is necessary to protect and defend all our allies.”
