BAE Systems is launching two new variants of the CV90 (Advanced Maintenance Vehicle and Combat Engineer Vehicle) to support the requirements of the Swedish Army.

BAE Systems has signed a $90 million continuation contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for two new CV90 variants to be added to the Swedish CV90 RENO upgrade program.

The variant of the CV90, which will be launched as an Advanced Maintenance Vehicle, features critical frontline support, repair and recovery support, and general combat vehicle availability. On the other hand, the ability to clear the route and reject the critical mobility of the enemy forces are among the important features of the Combat Engineer Vehicle. These two new variants are scheduled to join the Swedish Army’s mechanized formations, with deliveries scheduled between 2023 and 2027.

Regarding the new variants, Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, Managing Director of BAE Systems Hägglunds, said: “We are proud to produce these two new CV90 variants for the Swedish Army. Two new CV90 variants will be produced at BAE Systems Hägglunds’ Örnsköldsvik facility and Ritek’s Levanger facility. Ritek is one of the key industrial partners in BAE Systems Hägglunds’ Norwegian CV90 programme. Peter Sedin, Director of Operations at BAE Systems Hägglunds, said: “Ritek has demonstrated that it has the industrial capability and skills required for such a program. As our manufacturing partner for a similar Norwegian Army program, it made sense to turn to Ritek when looking for the optimal industrial setup for this important FMV contract.”
