The Greek submarine is joining the European Union's Mediterranean mission. The Greek Ministry of Defence announced that HS Poseidon (Type 209) submarine has joined the EUNAVFOR Med (European Union Naval Force Mediterranean) and has been deployed in the Mediterranean as of 15 February. HS Poseidon will contribute to the EU's mission of saving lives and preventing human trafficking in the Mediterranean for two weeks. HS Poseidon will be in service until 1 March in the currently group where there are sea platforms from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom. HS Poseidon was the leader of three submarines Type of 209 in Greece and was launched in 1978.
