It was announced that the KATANA 155 mm smart artillery ammunition produced by the French company Nexter Ammunition was successfully tested for flight control and manoeuvrability between 7-11 December 2020.

Tests are underway on KATANA, a programmable and intelligent 155mm guided munition developed for NATO artillery systems.

Dominique Guillet, Director of Ammunition at Nexter Group, signalled that the ammunition could begin to be marketed before the set timetable, as of 2023.

The ammunition, which provides close support to the force, is planned to be subjected to coordinate-guided and coordinate-controlled tests for the first time this year.
