China introduced the new electronic warfare version of the J-16 aircraft, the J-16D, at the Zhuhai Airshow held between September 28 and October 3.

The J-16 was developed over China’s J-11 (the Su-27 produced under license by China).

The J-16D is created by removing the IRST (Infrared Search and Track) system and the 30 mm GSh-30-1 cannon from J-16 aircraft and instead placing an electronic warfare system on the nose and on its wing tips.

Electronic warfare pods produced by China were also displayed at the wing and fuselage pylons of the aircraft.
