The Philippine Armed Forces will buy armoured personnel carriers worth about US$47 million from Brazil. In total, the Philippines will purchase 28 VBTP-MR/ Guarani 6×6 front line wheeled armoured vehicles.
Developed in partnership with the Italian company Iveco, the Guarani have a body that is resistant to light weapons and shrapnel.
The armoured personnel carrier variant, which the Philippines will buy, has a 7.62 machine gun and REMAX remote command weapons station developed by CTEx and Ares companies.
