The domestic aerostat system GÖKÇERİ, developed by the Turkish defense industry, has been deployed in the field to carry out security and surveillance missions. Brought to life by TÜRKPORT Defense Industry as a result of approximately 8 years of R&D work, the system is described as a “flying police station” thanks to its capability to remain airborne for long periods and continuously monitor wide areas. The platform, which operates by remaining fixed at a certain altitude through the lifting force of lighter-than-air gases, has been put into use particularly for border security and the protection of critical facilities.

Technical Capacity and Altitude Data of the GÖKÇERİ Aerostat System
The system can operate at altitudes ranging from several hundred meters up to 1,500 meters and is capable of conducting surveillance within a radius of approximately 10 kilometers from its operating height. Thanks to its domestic subsystems, GÖKÇERİ can remain airborne for days under suitable conditions, providing uninterrupted monitoring capability. Following the completion of tests of the first model developed in the tactical class, it was reported that the system was assigned to ensure the security of oil fields in the Şırnak Gabar region. The new model, featuring a larger hull, stands out with its ability to monitor a wider area from higher altitudes.
Operational Capabilities and Data Security Infrastructure
GÖKÇERİ, gece ve gündüz görüntüleme sağlayan kameralar, radar sistemleri ve haberleşme It can operate in an integrated manner with its equipment. In addition to surveillance activities, the platform can also be used as a mobile base station or radio relay. Thanks to the fiber optic line placed inside the tethering cable, the collected data is securely transmitted to the ground control center.
Mobile Structure: Thanks to its container-based structure, it can be set up in a short time and transported to different regions.
Local Content Rate: A large portion of its sensor infrastructure, control software, and electronic components were developed in Türkiye.
Hybrid Structure: It has the characteristics of a hybrid air platform capable of carrying heavy payloads.
These systems, which offer long-duration aerial surveillance at low cost, are expected to play a significant role in ensuring border security, protecting facilities, and monitoring critical areas. Efforts are ongoing for the integration of new systems that will enable intervention against detected threats.
