Georgia aspired to produce Su-25 (NATO Code: Frogfoot) aircraft developed as a result of the need for close air support from the Soviet Ground Forces.
Georgia's Defence Minister, Iraqi Garibashvili, said they could produce su-25 ground attack aircraft. Speaking to a television station, he said they had technical knowledge and humanitarian resources to manufacture and market the platform.
Minister Garibashvili said they could ensure the use of the aircraft for civilian purposes, and said that countries have shown great interest in such aircraft for defensive purposes because of the conflicts in the world.
After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the main production line of the Su-25 remained in Georgia Tbilisi.
