According to a recent report presented to the US Congress in March, there will be further delays in $44 billion Boeing KC-46A Pegasus tanker programme. The report states that although the KC-46A programme is currently meeting cost and performance targets, Government Accountability Office's (GAO's) analysis shows there is risk to the current delivery schedule due to potential delays in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications and key test events. In the frame of GAO's studies, the current delivery schedule for the 18 fully capable aircraft under contract is running about 14 months later than initially planned. The programme had already suffered 12 month delay in the delivery of the first fully capable aircraft to the US Air Force (USAF).
