China has launched the first Type 055-class guided-missile destroyer on 28 June at Jiangnan Shipyard's facilities near Shanghai. The 10 thousand-tonne vessel will be China's largest-ever surface combatant to date once it is commissioned. Type 055 features an overall length of 180 meters, an overall beam of 19 meters and a standard range of 5 thousand nautical miles at 12 knots. The vessel can reach a maximum speed of 30 knots.
